“You know Suzie?!?” I was surprised but I guess I shouldn’t have been. I had been trying to schedule a headshot with this amazing young woman for a couple of days, and I learned that my friend Traci Ling had worked with her before. It turns out that Traci and Suzie do work for Tootsies, a high end specialty store based in Houston that sells American and European designer collections. It is one of those places that looks like it sells very expensive clothes, and it in fact does. Think Pretty Woman shopping spree fancy. It’s kind of a big deal.
Traci and I got serious about photography about the same time and have helped each other the past couple of years whenever we weren’t modeling for Texas State Optical. I made pretty steady progress during that time, but Traci went nuts. Besides the great fashion work that she does, she also does great family work, all of which you should see here. Besides being one of the go-to photographers for fashion boutiques in Houston, she is beloved by mom bloggers and fashion bloggers, and has been featured in People Style Watch, numerous blogs, and a mobile photography exhibition at the Columbus (Ohio, not Texas) Museum of Art. I am so proud of her, yet she blows it off like it is not big deal, which is really cool.
Once I got Suzie booked, it was obvious that I needed Traci there to make it really fun. She graciously showed up and took some behind the scenes shots. This turned out to be a great idea.
My pal Jessica did a great job with the makeup and wrangling Suzie’s hair, and I had one of the best Labor Day weekends ever.
As a supplement to the above hagiography, Traci also has extremely good taste in headshot photographers:
Wow, I used to shoot way too warm. Live and learn.
